We are excited to announce our recent donation of £25,000 to BaySpace St Ives, a vibrant #community hub located in the heart of St Ives, Cornwall. This contribution aims to support the furnishing of their café, an initiative set to generate significant income and further benefit the local economy.

BaySpace St Ives is more than just a café; it is a cornerstone of the community, providing a welcoming space for locals and visitors alike. With a focus on promoting creativity, wellness, and connection, BaySpace offers a variety of events and activities that cater to all ages and interests. By supporting #BaySpace, we are investing in a project that brings people together, fosters local talent, and enhances the cultural fabric of St Ives.

Boosting the Local Economy

By enhancing the café’s appeal and functionality, BaySpace will be able to attract more patrons, including tourists, which in turn will boost local business. The café will serve as a venue for local artists, musicians, and small businesses, providing them with opportunities to showcase their work and products. This symbiotic relationship is essential for sustaining a thriving local economy and community spirit.

"The Directors and Bayspace Team are immensely grateful to have received this extremely generous donation from the Charles Reynolds Foundation.

The donation will make a huge difference to the CIC in respect of what Bayspace is able to offer to our local communities in St Ives and West #Cornwall, not only in terms of facilities in the building itself, but also in respect of the additional benefits which will be afforded by  flexible of use of the space, and the agility with which the building can serve the interests of its diverse members and user-groups.

Following the challenges that were thrown down by the pandemic, and its subsequent effects on the costs and materials for the refurbishment and fit-out, the CIC opened its doors in the late autumn of last year, and was immediately reliant in terms of forward-going desired developments on income ‘through the doors’. It is pleasing that we have built a very healthy pipeline of support and a busy schedule in a just few short months – co-working, meetings, training, skills and wellbeing events, as well as social and leisure sessions and exhibitions; and that additionally, the CIC has been honoured to win a number of prestigious building Awards for the conversion of the space.

The lively response has revealed further opportunities to boost and support our #sustainability, and thus help our mission in support of sustainable growth in our communities, not least around catering for events and ‘healthy-menu’ requirements for users; in particular your donation will be game-changing for us in terms of the further development of this strand of the business, helping to support additional local employment all year round, and to create a sustained buzz around Bayspace.

The donation will allow us to provide fully equipped catering provision for our members, guests, sponsored founders, and the many community groups that use Bayspace; it has allowed us to complete the kitchen to professional catering standards, and to acquire furniture and fittings to use the extended cafe spaces and decking overlooking the iconic St Ives Harbour and Bay. Our founders are able to enjoy free use of the building, and to benefit from training and mentoring, as part of our recent partnership with Barclays Eagle Labs – an unique offering within Cornwall, and one which we shall continue to build in future years. The terraces are therefore an important ‘green lung’ in the building for our members and founders to meet and relax on a daily basis, and also for communities to socialise and enjoy the magnificent views in our unique space.

We really can’t thank the Charles Reynolds Foundation enough for its extremely generous donation for the CIC, St Ives and our local communities – it already has and will continue to make a substantive difference in our ability to help meet local needs"
